Identification and association of polymorphism in THOC5 gene with fatty acid composition in Indonesian sheep

THO Complex 5 (THOC5) gene involves in lipid and fatty acid metabolism. The aim of this study was to analyse polymorphism THOC5 its association with composition sheep. A total 120 rams at the age 12 month average body weight 25–30 kg used for identification using Polymerase Chain Reaction- Restriction Fragment Length Polymorphism (PCR-RFLP). 83 rams, representative from different genotypes sheep were a General Linear Model (GLM). results identifed gene. showed two genotypes: CC CT genotype. Association analysis revealed that (g.68234589 C>T) significantly (P<0.05) associated including unsaturated acid: palmitoleic (C16:1), saturated stearic (C18:0). genotype higher level lower acid, while vice versa. This result indicates may contribute sheep, as well could be candidate select sheepmeat high low acid.
